Random Polls

I decided it might be fun to start doing random polls each week. If you have any ideas of polls to put on my blog feel free to email me (shellbell2 underscore 78 at yahoo dot com) and I will add it. Here is my first one...

Hmmmm...

I got an email from a guy who got some massage certificates for his birthday last year and I don't quite know what to make of it. He says,

"Hi Michelle,My wife Kirstin purchased 2 massages for me last August for my Birthday. I found them when we were moving, and called your number to find it had been disconnected. I am sad to say that since we have moved to Denver and you have moved to ------? I am unable to enjoy my birthday massage. Please e-mail me back or call me to see what we can do about our unused massages."

I remember selling her the certificates, very nice girl. However, My gift certificates expire exactly one year from the date of purchase. I put the expiration date right on there. So if he found them when he was moving they were probably expired, if not real close. Also, my # never changed and was never disconnected. All my certificates have the same # on them and no one else has ever had a problem getting through. I also include a business card in the envelope with the certificate which has my phone # and email address on it, which is how I assume he was able to email me just now. If I sold them last August they are for sure expired by now. So why didn't he email me last month??? So, I am kinda wondering if he found these certificates, realized they were going to, or were already expired and decided to see if he could get his money back by telling me he couldn't get ahold of me. What do you think...and what do you think I should do??? See my poll to the right. :)

(Edited to add...yes, I am still thinking about this)
Also, even if there was no expiration date, should I still be expected to refund his money when he waited until he was moving to do something? Should I be expected to sit on that money for who knows how long, just in case he forgets to redeem them before it's to late???

Bon Bons, Mormons and Jews

Actually, the Bon Bons (real bon bons by the way. :) )have nothing to do with the rest of the title. We got this awesome package from Mary today. Jacob was very excited when he saw we got a package. He was pretty impatient while I unwrapped it and opened the box. When he saw what was inside his eyes got real wide and he says, "Ooooh, nummy nums". Then he scarfed down like 5. I had to cut him off. I closed the box and set it on the counter and went back to what I was doing. Next thing I know he is walking in the kitchen with the bag. He managed to get to the box, get it opened and take the bag without me seeing. It's a good thing they are individually wrapped or he would have eaten them all. The only reason he brought the bag back in is because he doesn't know how to open them. So I gave him one more, then put them back in the box and up on top of the refrigerator. THANK YOU AUNTIE MERLA!!! Your the favorite of the DAY!! Actually probably more like the favorite of the WEEK!! Your the bestestest ever!!

Now your probably wondering about the rest of the title. Well, yesterday was the Jewish new year. And as I have mentioned before, we have some Jewish friends here. We always enjoy going to their house and celebrating the Jewish holidays. It's very interesting. But there is always the joke brought up about the Mormons and the Jews. There are always a few of us Mormons there. There are others there who are of other faiths, but everyone gets a kick out of the whole Mormons and Jews thing. ANYHOO...here is a picture of the group. It was good to see old and new faces. We always make new friends at these gatherings. There are always new faces.
Starting at the left with Mike, after him is Eddie(Mormon) Dr. Cantrell(sp) and his wife, Niesha and Matt, Jon(the head Jew, haha) at the head of the table, then Trisha, can't remember the next two peoples names, then I think Sarah and Katie (I may have gotten the names mixed up) and this last guy holding Lizzie I can never remember. Even if I could remember, I'd never be able to pronounce it or spell it. :)
Is it just me, or is Jon talking in all the pictures I've got of him. HAHA...Just kidding Jon. Really though, he does talk a lot. He loves to tell stories. But he has the most interesting ones. Very entertaining. Trisha his lovely wife is to the right. She did an awesome job. I wish I'd gotten a picture of the table before every one sat down. It was so fancy. You could tell she put in a lot of work. Not just with the table set up. The food was awesome as well.
I can't remember the two's names on the left, but they are Mormons, and the girl on the right, (Sarah I think...or was it Katie?) she is Jewish.

It was so good to see Matt and Niesha there. We haven't seen them in FOREVER. We missed them.
Jacob spent most of the time looking for the puppy and snooping. I had to get up from the table several times to go looking for him.
We were missing Jen and Joe, who moved to Florida(I think) for rotations and Brett and Kara, who I hear are in NY this month. It was strange without them there.
It was a very fun evening as usual. Thanks Jon and Trish for having us over once again. We really look forward to getting together again.

Random Pics and Video

I had a couple videos to post, but after it took forever to upload this one, I decided to call it good. lol.

I was at the computer listening to music and when I turned around both kids were dancing in their seats. Once I got the camera out Lizzie stopped. But she does dance a little in this video. I have another one where she's really dancing, but I liked this one cause Jacob was crackin' me up.

I announced that it was time for quiet time (aka nap time) and went to set up the safety gate at Jacobs door (so I can see in but he can't get out) and his DVD player so he could watch Elmo's World, and when I went to find him this is where I found him "hiding".

"Maybe she won't see me here." He was holding as still as he possibly could and being really quite. He had been there for at least a few minutes while I was setting things up. I walked in the room and had to really try hard not to laugh while I got the camera out. I said, "hmmm...where could Jacob be?" Still no movement. He stayed like that until he heard me snap the picture. Then his head popped up and he says, "A picture?!?"

And this is what happens when you don't pay attention to your child when they are finger painting. I turned around and he was finished painting the paper and had started on the wall. Good thing finger paints are easy to clean up.

Here's Lizzie after Jacob put his construction hat on her head. She thought she was pretty cool.

And I couldn't resist posting a picture of her in her little green dress. It was so cute on her. I just wish I'd had a green hair bow to go with it. Oh well. She looks cute without one.
Well, that's it folks. I could post more, but I'd rather go take a shower and get dressed for the day. Since it is almost 3:00 and all. :)

music (and dancing) in the park

One of the things I really like about Missouri is all the fun activities they do for free. It’s a very family (and poor people) friendly place. During the summer months, they have a band come play at the park every Friday. Usually blue grass. We’ve been a few times and Jacob really enjoys it. I had forgotten all about it, but I just happen to be walking at the park today and saw them setting up. So after I finished walking I let Jacob play until the music started. When they started playing he stopped in his tracks and ran towards the music. I steered the kids over to a shady spot on the grass where we had a good view and let Jacob dance around to the music. Lizzie started dancing to it too. She’s just recently started bobbing to music. If I get time later on I will post a video of them dancing in the kitchen. Anyhoo…Jacob was not the only one taking advantage of the music to dance and be crazy. Several senior citizens (most of them looked to be around 80 or so) were going a little crazy too. I WISH I’d brought my camera with me. It really was a sight to be seen. They were swing dancing and hopping around. They were out of control. It’s a good thing they had medical people on hand at the park (taking blood pressure for FREE…sweet), just in case one of them over did it, ya know. One of the interesting things I noticed was that there was only one man dancing. He looked to be about 70ish, maybe a little younger. He was going down the line taking turns with all the little old ladies. It was quite entertaining. They had some sweet moves to. They were actually pretty good. I hope when I’m that old, I will have that much energy. haha.

Busted!

Remember how we were rear ended on our way back to MO and the girls in the other car just drove off? Well, Mike just heard from the officer who took the report and he says he found the girls, gave them a nice hefty(at least I assume it was hefty) ticket and got their insurance info. Not that we need the insurance info, we don’t plan on fixing the scratch, but it’s still makes me feel better some how. HAHA!! Take that girls! Here’s hoping their driving privileges were revoked by their parents who are now probably fuming that their insurance rates just went up.
